Joint design adapted to fulfil new cable challenge

SubConnect collaborated closely with the client, leveraging its proven jointing technology and expertise, alongside a tailored build and testing process, to deliver the required solution. With a solid track record and supporting evidence, SubConnect provided the client with confidence in the design solution.

SubConnect was approached by a new client experiencing challenges in finding a suitable partner to provide an effective solution for their particular umbilical to sea cable jointing requirements for a system installation.

SubConnect worked with the client and their development partners to ensure the best solution for all parties. We leveraged the design team’s extensive knowledge and experience, along with SubConnect’s established testing facility, to rigorously test the necessary samples. This included:

• Tensile
• Pressure
• High-voltage tests

All tests were conducted to the industry-recognized ITU-T G976 standard in our UKAS accredited testing laboratory No 9277 (ISO/IEC 17025).

The cable specific piece part components and specialised tooling were designed in house, SubConnect having their own Manufacturing and Supply Chain department enabled the kits to be produced in time to meet the customers tight installation schedule.

We also worked with this client to support their unique documentation requirements governed by their end client. Providing audit trail evidencing, including but not limited to SubConnect’s piece part quality check, inspection and full traceability.

Additionally, SubConnect provided training via it’s Jointer Training school to the client’s team of Jointers to ensure they were fully prepared to install the cable joint in the system.
