SubConnect possesses unparalleled expertise and experience in all aspects of subsea cables, ranging from rigorous cable testing to the provision of Universal Joint and Universal Quick Joint parts, as well as offering comprehensive training and qualification services.

As part of the Global Marine Group, we are renowned as experts in subsea fibre-optic cables within the industries we serve. Our sister company Global Marine delivers extensive installation, maintenance, and emergency repair solutions tailored specifically to the telecommunications sector.

Cable Qualification

SubConnect’s qualification services uphold a global standard, certifying that your cable or cable combination is deployable and repairable worldwide by accredited personnel.

SubConnect qualify cables to assess their suitability to work with Universal Joint (UJ) and Universal Quick Joint (UQJ) technology. Each cable type is characterised, and bespoke piece parts are designed and manufactured to ensure its compatibility to the UJ and UQJ solution.

The joint containing the cable or cable combination is then rigorously tested to a common specification in our test house to simulate shipboard deployment and requisite oceanographic conditions.

Following successful completion, a Qualification Certificate is issued to the customer and that cable (or cable combination) is included in the list of qualified cables and toolkits. End-specific kits are then constructed, and manuals are produced.

Cable Testing

Before a cable, joint, rope, hawser, repeater or other item of subsea equipment can be deployed, there must be an assurance that it can be laid, operate and be recovered safely and satisfactorily under extreme maritime conditions. Appropriate development and meticulous specific testing must be undertaken to ensure safety and reliability.

SubConnect offers a complete range of precise mechanical, electrical, environmental and optical tests complying to various industry standards which among other objectives simulate marine deployment and oceanographic conditions.

Cable Jointing

Part of your team

SubConnect also extends support for client projects by providing highly skilled personnel for hire. Operating globally, our Cable Jointers and Subsea Equipment Operators are fully trained and equipped with a thorough understanding of QHSE standards and expectations.

Our Cable Jointers undergo specialised training and certification through our UJC training school. They have access to cutting-edge processes and techniques directly sourced from the UJ Consortium’s Design Authorities and implemented in our training facilities.

SubConnect Cable Jointing Training School

The SubConnect Cable Jointer Training School is a Universal Joint Consortium (UJC) member training school and offers a comprehensive range of training and certifications for Universal Joint (UJ) and Universal Quick Joint (UQJ), along with support for all associated cables.

Our courses cover basic UJ or UQJ training as well as specialised training for specific cable technologies. We customise training to your needs; for instance, if your company utilises three different cable types, your designated Jointers will receive training tailored to those specific cables rather than the entire range offered.
